PENGGUNAAN DAMDEX SEBAGAI BAHAN TAMBAH PADA CAMPURAN BETON |

This study was aimed to investigate the effect of Damdex, a commercial name of a chemical compound normally applied to concrete mix as additive to enhance the water tight properties of concrete, on the compressive strength of concrete. Damdex was added at ratios of 0.5%, 1.0%, 2.0% and 2.5% to the dry weight of cement and cast to testing cubes of 15 cm x 15 cm x 15 cm in dimension. Five cubes were made for each percentage of Damdex. Another five cubes were cast without Damdex, making the total number of testing cubes equal to thirty. The concrete mixes were prepared according to the procedures specified by SK SNI T-15-1990-03. The cubes were tested in the compression machine at 28 days. The result of the experiments showed that the addition of Damdex in the concrete mix did have an enhancing affect on the compressive strength of concrete cubes. The compressive strength of test specimens mixed with 2% Damdex were 19.2% above those prepared without Damdex. The increase in the compressive strength was the result of the reduction of the pores in concrete which resulted from the addition of leak prevention substance such as Damdex in the mixture, resulting in the enhancement of the quality of the concrete. |
