This research is the examination of the correlation between parenting styles and the academic achievement of high school students. The background of this study is based on the observation that the academic achievement of various students can be quite different than their classmates. The achievement of students is influenced by a large variety of factors, including the parenting styles of students’ parents. This research has the main goal of examining the influence of parenting styles on the academic achievement of students studying at Immanuel High School in Kalasan, Sleman, in Jogjakarta. The hypothesis of this study is: “It is suspected that the parenting styles of parents will positively influence the academic achievement of high school students.” This means that the better the parenting style used by parents, the better the academic achievement of students. The results of this academic study positively verify the above hypothesis, even though the parenting style observed involves only one factor from the wide variety of possible factors which could influence the academic achievement of students. |
