PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN BESMITTEL UNTUK MEMPERCEPAT KUAT TEKAN BETON

Abstract

The normal time needed for concrete to arrive at 100% of its maximum strength is 28 days, while loading starts at a minimum concrete age of 21 days. One of the ways to shorten the period is by adding a chemical admixture in the concrete. Among the admixtures for this purpose is an admixture with a brand name Besmittel. The objective of this research was to discover the effect of adding Besmittel in concrete. Besmittel of a certain amount was added to concrete and made into testing specimens. The influence of Besmittel on the concrete was evaluated by shearing the test specimens at 3 days, 6 days and 9 days. The concrete testing specimens were cylindrical in shape and have dimensions of 15 cm in diameter and 30 cm in height. Four groups of test specimens were prepared, each consisted of nine specimens. The first group consists test specimens made of concrete with no addition of Besmittel. The second, third and fourth groups consisted of test specimens enriched with 0.2%, 0.4% and 0.6% of Besmittel, respectively. The test specimens were tested at concrete age of 3, 6 and 9 days. Result of the experiments showed that having 0.4% Besmittel in the concrete produced the most effective reduction in the maturing period of the concrete. At nine days, the test specimen produced a compressive strength of 25.65 MPa. This was already 95% of the strength of the concrete achieved in 28 days, which was 27 MPa..
